The Children’s Voice

At Bradshaw Hall, we want to place the children at the heart of the curriculum. The school council is central to this, giving all children a meaningful voice within the school. At the start of the year, each class elects a school council representative. This person becomes the ‘voice’ for the class, representing their classmates at school council meetings to talk over important whole-school issues.

The school council make decisions on a range of issues. They have given useful feedback on how to improve the lunchtime provision, making changes to the physical environment of the school and devising a system for making sure that everyone feels happy and well looked-after at playtimes. As a result we have built new playground equipment with new playground markings being incorporated in 2022. This year's budget for outdoor development is £5K. We are also launching an initiative to develop the wildlife area at the back of the school field, which the children will help to design and build.

School council representatives have also asked questions as part of the school interview panel when appointing new members of staff. The thoughts and ideas of the children are truly valued and regularly acted upon at Bradshaw Hall.
